Welcome
Dear geoscientists, dear colleagues,
It is our great pleasure and honour to invite you to participate in MedGU-26, which will be held in hybrid format (in-person and online) from 08 to 11 November 2026 in the magnificent city of Cairo, Egypt. Researchers from all fields of the geosciences and from all over the world are warmly invited to present, share, and discuss their latest original research and scientific achievements.
Following the remarkable success of the 1st CAJG, 2nd CAJG and 3rd CAJG, it became evident that there was a strong need for a broader and more comprehensive international geoscience meeting capable of bringing together an even larger scientific community while covering the full spectrum of Earth and planetary sciences.
With this objective in mind and building upon the overwhelming success of MedGU-21 (Istanbul, Türkiye), MedGU-22 (Marrakech, Morocco), MedGU-23 (Istanbul, Türkiye), MedGU-24 (Barcelona/Catalonia, Spain), and MedGU-25 (Athens, Greece) — which together attracted more than 7,000 abstract submissions from 95 countries — the MedGU Annual Meeting continues its mission of providing a dynamic international platform where scientists from the Mediterranean region and across the globe, particularly early-career researchers, can exchange ideas, discuss unpublished findings, and engage with experts from the diverse disciplines of Earth and planetary sciences.
MedGU-26 will feature a high-level Scientific Program including Plenary Lectures delivered by prominent international speakers, topical Special Sessions addressing emerging scientific challenges, and numerous opportunities for interdisciplinary exchange and networking. In addition, participants will enjoy a well-curated Social Program and a carefully designed Field Trip allowing attendees to discover the exceptional geological, historical, and cultural heritage of Egypt.
As with the previous MedGU editions, the latest research findings at MedGU-26 will be published in the Conference Proceedings by Springer (indexed in Scopus/SCImago) and in some Special Issues. Through these publications and scientific exchanges, MedGU continues its mission of strengthening international cooperation and fostering new collaborations among geoscientists from both shores of the Mediterranean and beyond.
Beyond its scientific excellence, MedGU-26 will also offer participants a unique opportunity to experience the extraordinary atmosphere, hospitality, and cultural richness of Egypt — one of the world’s most fascinating historical and geological destinations.
We look forward to warmly welcoming you to Cairo in November 2026. Your participation, whether in person or online, will contribute to MedGU’s mission of promoting scientific dialogue, international cooperation, and a more sustainable future for our region and our planet.
Join us for an inspiring and memorable experience in Egypt!
Yours sincerely,
