Visa application
Participants are kindly requested to carefully read the following information before making any travel arrangements for MedGU-26 in Cairo, Egypt:
- Delegates are responsible for ensuring that they obtain the appropriate visa and travel authorizations required to enter Egypt.
- Participants are strongly advised to check the latest travel regulations and visa requirements through the official Egyptian government authorities and the Egyptian embassy or consulate in their country of residence before planning their trip.
- As visa processing times may vary depending on the country, participants are encouraged to prepare and submit their visa application materials several months prior to their intended departure date.
- Participants should apply for their visa as soon as they are reasonably certain of attending MedGU-26.
- An official invitation letter may be required for visa applications. Invitation letters can only be issued to participants who have completed the conference registration and payment process (see Registration).
- For security and administrative reasons, invitation letters will only be sent to registered and paid participants.
- During their stay in Egypt, participants are strongly advised to obtain appropriate travel and medical insurance coverage for emergency medical assistance, travel disruptions, or other unforeseen circumstances.
- Participants requiring assistance regarding visa invitation letters or related matters may contact the MedGU-26 Organizing Committee at contact@medgu.org.
Accommodation
Please read the following information before booking your accommodation in Cairo:
- Conference registration fees do not include accommodation expenses (see Registration).
- Cairo offers a wide variety of accommodation options, ranging from budget hotels and guesthouses to international luxury hotels and serviced apartments.
- Participants are strongly encouraged to book their accommodation as early as possible.
- A list of recommended hotels and accommodation options located near the Conference Venue at the National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG) will be announced soon.
- Participants may also explore major online booking platforms such as Google Hotels, Booking.com, Expedia, and similar services to compare prices and identify the most suitable accommodation options for their stay.
Transportation
Cairo International Airport (CAI) is the main international gateway to Cairo, serving numerous international and regional destinations. In addition, Sphinx International Airport (SPX), located west of Cairo near Giza, is an emerging hub offering convenient access, particularly for regional and low-cost flights.
The Conference Venue at the National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG) will be accessible through various transportation options.
Local Transportation Options:
- Uber/Careem: Uber and Careem are widely available in Cairo and provide convenient, reliable, and affordable transportation throughout the city.
- Metro: Cairo operates one of the largest metro systems in Africa and the Middle East, connecting many districts of the city through an efficient and economical transportation network.
- Taxi: Official white taxis are widely available throughout Cairo. Participants are advised to use official licensed taxis and, when possible, agree on the fare in advance or ensure that the taximeter is used.
- Conference Transportation: Additional transportation information, including recommended routes, airport transfer advice, and transportation arrangements related to MedGU-26 social activities and events, will be announced closer to the conference dates.
