1. Icebreaker Reception
The MedGU-26 Organizing Committee cordially invites all participants to the Conference Icebreaker Reception, an informal gathering marking the opening of the conference and providing an excellent opportunity for participants to network in a relaxed atmosphere.
During the evening, participants will also enjoy folkloric stands showcasing traditional Egyptian culture, including local food specialties, music, and festival traditions, providing a unique introduction to Egypt’s rich heritage and convivial atmosphere.
The reception will take place on 08 November 2026 at 19:00 at the conference venue, in the dedicated outdoor events area located on top of the hill, offering spectacular panoramic views of the Pyramids and Cairo’s city lights by night.
Participation is free of charge for all registered conference participants, and all attendees are warmly encouraged to join this memorable opening evening and share the spirit of MedGU-26 in a friendly and festive atmosphere.
2. Cultural Tour: The Great Pyramids
Discover the majesty of the legendary Pyramids of Giza, the last surviving wonder of the ancient world. This exceptional cultural excursion offers delegates and geoscientists a unique opportunity to explore one of humanity’s greatest engineering achievements and to admire the monumental limestone structures that have endured for thousands of years.
The guided tour will depart by bus from the conference venue on 09 November 2026 at 08:30 and will return to the venue shortly before lunch, scheduled for 13:30.
Participants will experience the rich history and extraordinary atmosphere of this iconic archaeological site while enjoying insightful commentary throughout the visit. A light meal and soft drinks will also be provided during the excursion.
3. Nile Cruise Dinner & Live Entertainment
Experience an unforgettable evening on the majestic Nile River with the MedGU-26 Conference Nile Cruise: Dinner & Live Entertainment. This special social event offers participants the opportunity to enjoy the unique atmosphere of Cairo by night while sailing along the world’s most legendary river.
Guests will be treated to an elegant dinner featuring authentic Egyptian and international cuisine, accompanied by a vibrant programme of live entertainment. The evening will include traditional Arabic music, spectacular folklore performances, colourful dance shows, and captivating belly dance performances, creating an authentic and festive Egyptian atmosphere on board.
The cruise provides a perfect setting to relax, network, and experience the charm and beauty of the Nile in a refined and convivial environment.
The cruise is scheduled for 09 November 2026 from 19:00 to 23:00. Transportation from the conference venue to the embarkation port will be provided for registered participants, with departures starting at 18:00. Participants who prefer to join the cruise directly at the embarkation port will receive the exact meeting location and boarding instructions at a later stage. Participants are kindly requested to arrive no later than 18:45, as the cruise departs promptly at 19:00.
4. Cultural Tour: The Pharaonic Village
Join us for an enriching cultural excursion to the renowned Pharaonic Village, where participants will embark on a fascinating journey through the history and daily life of ancient Egypt. The tour will depart by bus from the conference venue on 10 November 2026 at 17:00 and is expected to conclude at approximately 20:00. On the return journey, buses will drop participants at several convenient locations across the city, including stops near major metro stations, with the final stop in Cairo city centre.
5. Cultural Tour: Grand Egyptian Museum
Discover the extraordinary Grand Egyptian Museum, a spectacular architectural masterpiece housing the world’s most extensive collection of pharaonic antiquities. The visit is scheduled immediately after the closure of the conference on 11 November 2026. Departure by bus from the conference venue will take place at 17:00, and the guided tour is expected to conclude at approximately 20:00.
Participants registered for the Gala Dinner will remain on the respective bus, which will continue directly to the Gala Dinner venue, scheduled for 21:00 at the magnificent Maq'ad of Amir Mamay al-Sayfi. Participants who prefer to join the Gala Dinner directly at the venue will receive the exact meeting location and entrance instructions at a later stage and are kindly requested to arrive no later than 20:45.
6. Gala Dinner
To celebrate the conclusion of MedGU-26 and allow participants to carry home lasting memories of Egypt, the MedGU-26 Gala Dinner promises to be one of the highlights of the conference and an unforgettable evening of culture, gastronomy, and conviviality.
The event will take place on 11 November 2026 at 21:00 at the magnificent Maq'ad of Amir Mamay al-Sayfi, offering participants the opportunity to enjoy authentic Egyptian cuisine in a unique and historic setting.
Immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of Historic Islamic Cairo with an exclusive evening at this remarkable venue, located on the renowned Al-Muizz Street. The Maq'ad was established by Prince Mamay al-Sayfi in 901 AH / 1496 AD during the reign of Sultan Qaitbay and remains one of the finest examples of late Mamluk architecture in Cairo.
Participants will enjoy a refined cultural dining experience surrounded by remarkable architectural features and intricate artistic details reflecting the splendour of the Mamluk era.
